Non narrative

Wholewheattoastcom

While I was traveling Shawn Eisenach sent me one of his Objective non Narrative zines. It's a monthly publication collecting sketches, ephremera, and notes generated through out the month. There are 50 copies of this zine, each has 26 b&w pages and one hand printed centerfold. Subscription is still available.

Five albinos

Matreshkas_wrapping

It is a shortened version of the white set (this time out of five dolls). It was my new year present for one special girl.

Know no bounds

Arch

It was an international project. The owner of one little label Cloudberry Records from Miami Roque Plastilina asked me to make a 7" record jacket for Socialist Leisure Party from London. Keeping in mind I'm from Moscow, I was really exited about this and immediately answered "Yes!"

I was inspired by St. Basil's cathedral these days and made pattern, based on it. This is the result of our international collaboration.

Handmade diamonds

Bag_magnets

Handmade bag, hand printed wrapping paper and hand painted magnets - looks like perfect Christmas gift. Instead of wasting time doing shopping I prefer to make something out of what I already have. It's faster, cheaper and, well, sometimes looks much better than the things you can buy.

Twilight soon

Couldbealion

So dark I can't even finish a picture in one day. Had to stop doing it yesterday because of sunset.

We have a book fair Non-fiction these days. Things are getting better each year, but still the most interesting thing is foreign books. Needless to say I spent almost all my time near French, Swedish and Norwegian books and was lucky to buy some of them. Up above there are Det är bara lite AIDS by Sara Granér, L’enfant qui grandissait by Vincent Cuvellier, illustrated by Charles Dutertreand and Le phoque by Caroline Lamarche and Goele Dewanckel which matches accidentally Roland Breucker's Quelques années de mine.

Christmas is near

Comics_christmas

It was funny and, well, crucial to draw comics about Christ. But after all he was just like every other little boy. While drawing his halo I made a small research about it. The form of this circular glow around the head was changing with the lapse of time. First the halo was shown as a flat circle behind the head. When perspective came to be considered essential, painters changed the halo to a ring that appeared in perspective. I definitely like the first one - simple and much more decorative than just a ring floating above. I'm old fashioned, yep.

Oh, Jesus!

Done

This t-shirt is a gift for a friend. He's a student of seminary. I have recently finished comics about Christmas and decided to adapt its main character (yep, baby Jesus!) for a t-shirt. It was pretty hard to make his halo, since it's so detailed.
