Kremlin

Inside the Kremlin wall there is another Russia. The oriental one, with its incredible mixture of buildings and richly decorated ornaments. My friend mentioned, it feels a little bit like Damascus.

it's funny because the words "the kremlin" always bring to mind "an institution, a doctrine etc"....but how quickly we forget (ok those of us in the west, i guess) that it is also a building....so thank you for these two photos...and making me think a bit more, beyond the first degree.

It's beautiful and has a peaceful aura around it even besides all the tourists (ahem, which would be me as well!). But Damascus..it's where the Russian Orthodox roots are, aren't they, in Byzantine.

Nancy, well, moreover for me this word is a proper name. We have the Red square and the Kremlin wall. So it's definitely a building, a fortress. It's an interesting fact you think about it like a doctrine first.

Ulla, glad to see you here! I'm not a fan of tourists places as well. It was my second time I visited Kremlin. First was about 20 years ago. And you're right about Byzantine. It's a pity we desperately want to look like one of the Western countries now.

ps...but in all fairness, I think the same way (ex, doctrine etc) when I think of the Whitehouse....so...
